To assist you in the steps necessary to file asbestos personal injury claims, we are providing two separate instruction trails. One is for Individuals filing a claim, and the other is for Law Firms filing group claims.

** CLAIMS FILING & PAYMENT **

• Claims Filing Open Period
    ** Begin on February 18, 2002 @ 1:00AM
    ** End on April 24, 2002 @ 1:00AM
• Claims will be processed in the time order of receipt.
• There will be separate processing and payment procedures for the "Individual Claims" class and "Group Claims" class.
• Each payment class will receive a prorated total payment amount which will be based on the total number of claims received in the two classes.
         For Example:
    Individual Claims        60,000 Claims   (60% Total)
    Group Claims            40,000 Claims   (40% Total)
               Total Claims  100,000 Claims (100% Total) 
  
• Claims payment will be made to the extent funds are available for payment and will be paid at:
      100% payment value for a Web processed claim
        80% payment value for a Telephone processed claim
• It is expectedIt is expected not all claims will be paid in the open period cycle due to an anticipated large claims response. Claimants may check Web Site for status of their claims.
• Approved claims not paid in this open period due to unavailability of funds will be retained in the Trust database and will be considered for payment in the next open period which is anticipated to be in the year 2004.
• Claims payment checks will be mailed 120 days after the end of the claims open period.
• Checks which are not cashed within 120 days after issuance will be voided and the claim cash value will be donated by the Trust to the American Lung Association for research in lung disease.
